Obituary
On Tuesday, June 18th, the Lord sent His angels to escort Artie Mae Johnson home. Artie was born on July 7, 1936—though public records list her birthdate as July 17, 1936, she always said, "My mother told me when I was born." She was born in Marianna, Arkansas, to the union of the late Ocie Lee Milan and Theollie Pascal.
She attended Gunckel Elementary and graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio. She later married George Arnold Johnson, and from their union came six children. Early on, she was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Artie worked hard and wore many hats over the years. She was employed by Libbey Glass, served as a nurse's aide, worked in the Toledo Public School system, and lovingly provided makeup services for the deceased at a local funeral home. Her hands were skilled, and her heart was generous.
She was known for always taking care of her family. If you borrowed even a screwdriver, expect her to ask about it the next day—she never forgot, and she always made sure things got returned! A true hands-on woman, if something needed fixing, she did it herself—even her dryer.
Artie was affectionately known as the "Roadrunner" because she was always on the move—traveling, visiting, helping others, and staying active. You never knew where she'd be, but you could bet she was in motion, making something happen.
"Kicking but not high, flopping but can't fly."
That was her way—honest, humorous, and full of heart.

A Beautiful Soul
You had a smile for everyone,A heart as pure as gold.
To us, you were a blessing,
More precious to hold.

Your love will light our way—
A beautiful soul, remembered,
And cherished every day.
